Do You Chew?

As soon as we even think about eating, our body begins to prepare for digestion. Once we bite into our food, digestion starts to take place in the mouth. As chewing begins, the digestive enzyme “amylase’ begins to break down sugars and starches, preparing for nutrient absorption. Chewing adequately is a vital part of achieving maximum nutrient absorption of all the vitamins and minerals in the meal.

Many people have poor habits when it comes to chewing, often gulping down their food as if it were their last. To improve table time habits, counting the number of chews per bite aiming for 20 to 30 can help. Putting down the utensils between bites encourages focusing on the flavors and textures of the food which increases enjoyment as well as improves digestion. The more saliva that is created, the better the break down of carbohydrates.

Saliva has another added benefit by making the food more alkaline which decreases gas formation. Remember to breathe deeply while chewing so it becomes a relaxing experience, once again being a powerful antidote to poor digestion. Nuances of flavors and aromas will be noticed.

In order to nurture your relationship with food, create a meal ritual that will allow your body and mind to welcome in the nourishment. Wash hands or splash face with fresh water, have soothing music in the background, perhaps light a candle or dim the lights to create a calming atmosphere, align posture to open up belly area and allow a spirit of gratitude to soften your heart.

In many cultures, it is common to take a short walk at an easy pace following a meal. This can be a time to connect with a loved one or to just focus on being in tune with yourself. Learn to enjoy your mealtimes as it is the foundation for inner nourishment.

In addition to chewing properly, we must also assist our body in breaking down our food with quality enzymes to ensure we actually get all the nutrients. For me and the clients I serve, quality is everything when it comes to actually absorbing our food from proper enzymes being used. Transformation has conducted clinical studies to demonstrate the dramatic improvements from their enzyme formulas; thereby, reversing many symptomatic issues. Everyone needs enzymes because our bodies don’t produce enough as we get older. Get quality to get results!

Dr. DicQie Fuller, my mentor, has spent the last 35 years researching and formulating quality enzymes with Transformation Enzymes. Listen to understand their power.

The foundation for health begins in the gut by changing diet, adding in appropriate enzymes and releasing emotions that cause sickness. I have dedicated my life to help others restore this gut/life balance with food, physical and emotional detoxification and enzyme support. Contact me at ReConnect Gut for Life.
